The reason I like doing this recap is that I can look back later and say what went wrong, in order to do it better next time. Why I am so negative? Well, because this week does not actually deserve the title “Halfmarathon Training Week 5”. More on that in a second.
So, before we start with the recap of the last week, let’s talk about the 70.3 Ironman in Panama City today. Has anyone followed the race? Lance Armstrong was in the lead for most of the half marathon and than Docherty took the lead in the last kilometer of the race. What a thrilling finish!
Ok, now on to me.
After the run in the cold last Sunday, I felt great. Yes, my legs had been numb during the last kilometers of the run, and this felt kind of weird, but I was happy I went outside for a run. Then, after my legs felt normal again, my knee started to hurt again. That happened pretty much right after I posted about this super fantastic run. So, I took it easy for four days and then went out to run on Friday. I planned to run 10 km, but the 10 km turned out to be only 5,8 km with a lot of pain. So, being a smart girl, I decided to take the weekend off as well, and to start doing the exercises I did when I did the rehab for my knee last summer.
Distance: 5,8 km (3,8 miles)
Time: 36 minutes
Avg Pace: 6:12 min/km
Kilometers: 5,8 (3,8 miles)
I am going to take tomorrow off as well, and I’ll be back on Tuesday! The weather is much nicer now, and I hope it stays that way.
I hope that one week of rest was enough for my poor little knee, and if this is the case, my next week is going to look like this:
Goals for Week 6:
Runs: 3-4 times
Kilometers: 30-40 km
In addition, I signed up for one spinning class and one pilates class at my gym.
Let’s see if I can keep up with these goals!
How did your week go?
